To realize the further advancement of air transport in the ASEAN region, the development of infrastructure, such as airports, navigation systems, and so on is a key issue. To tackle this issue, it is essentially important to understand the concrete needs of ASEAN countries and to explore means of possible cooperation and contributions from related parties. To realize these objectives, the Japan International Transport Institute (JITI) organized an international seminar focused on developing further air transport infrastructures and managing their operations in ASEAN countries.

In the seminar, the above-mentioned lecturers presented their analysis of the current situation of the air transport markets in ASEAN, including the liberalization of air transport, on-going projects for developing air transport infrastructures, and policy challenges for the future.

In the panel discussions, the needs for possible investments and support from Japan were particularly discussed. Also, the audience actively participated from the floor with stimulating questions.
