“International Forum on the Long-term Impacts of Low Emissions Transport Policies and Actions in the ASEAN”

ITPS launched a 3-year international joint study project named “A Study of Long-Term Transport Action Plan for ASEAN (LPA)” in 2011,with the aims to; promoting back casting methods; build a guideline of long-term transport policies with climate change point of view; and propose concrete transport policies for ASEAN.

This forum named “International Forum on the Long-term Impacts of Low Emissions Transport Policies and Actions in the ASEAN” intended to promote relevant parties’ understandings of study results so far, current status and approaches of ASEAN countries, and the necessity of the future vision.

In the forum, with the attendance of high government officials from ASEAN countries and  Japan, and experts from ASEAN countries and international organizations, key note speech introducing the current status of Japan- ASEAN collaboration toward the realization of the low carbon transport in ASEAN was given,, and the presentations regarding the analysis of each ASEAN country’s future vision were made. In the panel discussion, which was held after the presentations, there was an active discussion regarding challenges to achieve a low carbon transportation system in ASEAN.
