@As a side event of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (RIO+20) , the Institution of Transport Policy Studies (ITPS), International Union of Railways (UIC), and International Association of Public Transport (UITP) and other organizations co-hosted an event focusing on sustainable transport in the city of the future.
@At this event, Yosuke Takada made a presentation on behalf of ITPS introducing the results of the international study project, gStudy of Transport System in a Low Carbon Societyh that the institution conducted from 2008 to 2010.  This study project reported that a large scale modal shift and drastic behavioral change are necessary to fundamentally reduce CO2 emissions from the transport sector and appealed that making long term action plans are necessary to realize low carbon transport.
@In addition, he made a presentation about the necessity and possibility of introduction of high speed rail (HSR) in emerging countries, based on the results of the ITPSf current study about the future HSR network visions in India.
