The interest of Japanese industries in the overseas infrastructure market is rapidly rising, while in Japan, the domestic market is quickly shrinking. Projects for infrastructure development need huge investment usually over a long term, so they require sophisticated finance schemes and risk mitigation. In order that Japanese companies can be more familiar with the various financing schemes and guarantee measures, we held this seminar to make available the latest international expertise regarding project finance for infrastructure.
In Part one, presentations on BOT/PPP projects, their financing scheme, and development for the overseas infrastructure market were made. In part two, experience and challenges of Japanese investors involved in overseas infrastructure development were reported. These reports were followed by a panel discussion, in which the moderator and each panelist actively discussed with the audience about future strategies for enhancing international competitiveness of Japanese industries.
