@The International Seminar gVision for A Low Carbon Transport System Aiming for 50% CO2 Emission Reduction from the Global Transport Sector gwas held as a final briefing session of the international study project named gStudy of a Transport System in a Low Carbon Societyh.
@Keynote speeches were given by Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Director General of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Director of Yale Climate and Energy Institute (YCEI) and Prof. David Banister, Professor of Transport Studies and Director of the Transport Studies Unit, School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford.
@In session one, the deputy director of ITPS, Iwao Matsuoka, made a presentation regarding methodologies of this study, a scenario for global CO2 reduction, focusing on five major regions and the necessary support for developing countries. His presentation was followed by Dr. Lee Schipper, project scientist of Global Metropolitan Studies, University of California Berkeley, who made a presentation regarding the present transport situation in developing countries.
@During a panel discussion in session two, policies and support mechanism to reduce CO2 emissions were discussed.
